I for 1 will never agree with the ill manors of kanye. while some artists are more talented than others i have great respect for anyone willing to sit in the hot seat. all opinions are appreciated some have a more elegant way of stating things than others.
Yes, Kanye's manners need an adjustment. I totally agree. I only said that he had a good point about Ms. Swift. Musically, she is not that great, however she has other redeeming qualities that I completely understand people gravitating towards. I get it.
Now talking about respect, calling someone intolerant is disrespectful, and "some have a more elegant way of stating things" sounds like a backhanded jab to me. Passive aggressive doesn't fly with me. If you really like Ms. Swift, great! More power to ya. We can agree to disagree without taking jabs at each other. I respect any performer who gets up on stage and makes a go of it. It may not be great, they may not have a lot of talent, and they could completely flail, but I still respect them. Besides, why get your undies in bunch about one person's opinion?
Perhaps it was my comment that taylor swift should "spare herself and all of us" that spurred lumox's "backhanded jabs". I guess a smiley emoticon would have been appropriate as it was meant more as a joke than an affront.
If lumox or anyone else likes to listen to her music, that's fine; obviously Dart and I don't care for it.
I see it this way - it's like any other occupation, and I have a lot of respect for people who excel in their field.
I can honestly say that whoever the backing band was for Ms. Swift was spot on and sounded very good.
Dylan is an acquired taste. I like a lot of his stuff now, but it took years for it to grow on me. I love the guy for taking Folk music into the electric age, and his song writing is incredible.
FWIW- I could'nt even tell a joke and get a laugh when I was 19 let alone sing 4 songs on the CMA awards. Is she overpromoted, without a doubt, be she has the hearts of a whole lot of people. I persopnally thought Marissa Lambert and her band stole the show.
my appoligies dart I wasnt tryin to jab at ya. I just like taylor I think the girls got a lot of heart, seemed like yall were pickin on her. Ican see what you were saying about not being in sink w/ the band I just give her some leave way she's a young'n. and I've seen alot worse.
I enjoyed most of the stuff. Plenty of good singing - Taylor Swift not so much in the singing category. My take on Taylor Swift:
She writes those songs from sincerely where she is emotionally and intellectually at her age. A rarity for someone so young to be so prolific. Her audience just happens to be the demographic that buys tons of music these days. When I see vids of her performing, I see all those young girls in the audience totally into her message and digging it. It is no wonder she is huge. Her performing skills are secondary to what is really going on. She is a steamroller until those little girls grow up and don't want to buy nearly as many downloads. It won't be nearly as fun when the song title isn't "Romeo & Juliette" - more like "Broken Hearted Baby Mama" (insert sound of sales plummeting). Until then - good on her! Time will tell if she improves and endures. I think she is a damned good songwriter. Can she sing? Kinda. Does she deliver to her audience? BIG TIME. Count how many songs you have written lately that would have a prayer of appealing to her huge demographic and make you rich and famous. When the Beatles hit, they were singing about "Love Me Do" "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" "If I fell in Love with You". Common denominator: Teenage girl gets warm and runny and wants to buy the record that gives a repeat performance of said experience - excuse the vulgarity.....
