What an unbelievable loss. Eddie Van Halen's impact on music is incalculable. His talent covered as much of the spiritual and soulful content of his playing as it did the technical curiosity and courage to turn the "What if I did this?"-questions into reality that have forged what rock music is "supposed to sound like". Forums like this are what that is all about. Musicians are a dime a dozen. EVH was a pioneer.

No doubt, there will be a standing room only show at the Pearly Gates.

EVH RIP.
Just plug it in, man.

So I didn't realize that EVH was a dumble player. My apologies. I can move it back to Dumble Discussion if that's more appropriate

Hey Phil
The reason why I put it in the Dumble discussion thread is most of the people I know here hangs out there. At this point I am sure everyone has heard about it so no need to send it back. Your the moderator here so you can decide what is appropriate, (However I tend to think the Passing of the great EVH can go anywhere it wants). In the Past there have been many RIP post of our fallen heros that have been posted in the Dumble discussion section and have not been moved and nobody has complained..
If it were me and you feel the need to keep the site clean I would leave it for a week or so let everyone have a chance to post tell their story and when the thread dies then do the house cleaning but this is just my opinion..

I really was faced with the issue of two post in different sections on the same thing and was merging them.

I only am trying to conform to what members in general want, not what I want. I was under the impression many here had complained that "Section X is full of too much that is not related to X and can make the forums really hard to navigate and find things, can we clean up the sections and move threads to where they 'belong'?" and so my thoughts were that I should keep dumble files content in the dumble files section (files and layouts related to dumbles as they're best known, etc) Dumble Discussion for all discussions around dumble and his amps, etc.

If I've misunderstood that request, I'd be happy to step back and not touch things.

I'm honestly confused that me merging two identical posts and putting them in a forum area where it made more sense would ruffle any feathers.

Not to question this thread being in Garage Talk, but I swore Eddie's perhaps most listened to solo was through a Dumble Amp.

I swore legend had it when they asked Eddie into the studio to cut the "Beat It" solo that he plugged into a Dumble. I thought I even saw this mentioned before on this Forum.

The kicker he heard about that solo... the compensation he requested for that solo was a case of beer... :D

Nope, an Ampgarage member emailed Eddie and was told(by Eddie) the Beat It solo was not done through a Dumble. Still great and he will be greatly missed.Straight

from Eddie.

His main old Marshall Plexi Superlead!!! Plus he had a good laugh over the hearsay that never ends!!!!

Hope this helps.
