I saw them last weekend here in Melbourne. Got a call from a mate at 6:30pm (2 hours before they were on stage) saying he had tickets to a Corporate Box and I was coming. Kinda ironic: Corporate Box and Tool!
But they killed it. Maynard was sick and throwing up on stage (apparently), so was a little off, but the 3 boys were incredible again.
They played lots of the old stuff and Push It was the highlight - absolutely epic.
It's the 5th time I've seen them and they were great.
I've always loved Adam's tone - thickness from the Diezel and mid range roar from the Superlead.
Justin Chancelor's tone was amazing and he has incredible chops.
But Danny Carey would have to be one of the great modern drummers. Hits with the ferocity of John Bonham and has the technical prowess of Neal Peart. Incredible to watch.
Ahhhh, you missed the best bit - the talkbox solo!!! My 4 and 6 year old boys love that bit.For the unindoctrinated, wait till 0:32, dime your monitors, and let your head and neck do what comes naturally.
