Fat low end too with a 15, but everything's incredibly bright with any of the JBL's that have aluminum dust domes. Sort of forces you to find your tone control and dial it way down. There are some good tones to be found there too.

Blame Dick Dale. Legend has it anyway that Dick pointed out the advantages of JBL's to Fender early in the 60's. Half a century of ZING! Ow my ears hurt now...

That's exactly what I heard about those aluminum dust cap JBLs. I'd rather not be sterilized just yet. I want the brown Vibroverb... :D

The owner/seller is a friend of mine. I helped him move in to the shop 33 years ago. Before that he worked for another shop....bought a MusicMan 210/65 from him in '76, my Martin from him, countless other pieces thru the years.

He gave me 2x Twins, a MM Bass amp (early with tube PI), a pile of NOS trannies, a bunch of old tube PA's and lots of other stuff as he was cleaning out the back room a few weeks ago. Simply a super guy.

He has had some of the most incredible stuff over the years.
He's already sold the '60 Burst, the Tweeds and Brownies.

At one time he had SEVERAL of ALL of them in the collection....what you see is just what's left.

So sad to see his shop go away, but it's a sign of the times....folks come in and try out a Strat, then go home and order it from MF......then come in the following week to show him what they bought

Hey Geez!

What a great friend! Beautiful collection. A bummer to see him winding it down. Where have all the good times gone?

There's a self styled "amp goo-roo" in Beacon NY who's been trying to flog one of these for the last year and a half on Craigslist. Depending on the day he's asking a mere pittance of 9 or 10 grand. Dig deep darlin' & please take it, I'm gettin' tired of seeing the ad.

Exactly what I've posted before with my friends guitar store in town. They decided to get rid of all the cheap crap and nothing but expensive guitars and amps selling on line and have been doing great since talking that move.

I noticed another guitar store in Minneapolis did the same thing switching to high end gear only.

Everyone orders on line.

It is a bummer to see all these places shutting their doors. One of our local shops closed it's doors last year after almost 40 years of business. Slow decline into nothingness. I have to admit that I started buying more and more stuff online over the years and I have contributed to the problem.

Same thing happened here a few years ago. One of two guitar shops other than GC with some alright gear shut down. Didn't really matter to me, the majority of guys that worked there were douche bags and I stopped giving them my business as well. Hard to give any local place business when buying things used. The net just has so much selection.

I haven't been to a music store on purpose since 1997 maybe.

Pickle barrel kinds of places were always my favorites.
