Here's some nice Brazilian RW I've had for a while. Pity it's only 13 1/4" long, good for a mandolin fretboard. Nicely quarter cut, except the little wonky bit towards the bottom.

I got this when we lived in Salt Lake about ten years ago. It was originally a larger board that was a cut off from a rifle stock blank that had been owned by Val Browning, the son of John Browning of M1911 and Hi-Power fame, who lived in Ogden UT. MacBeath Hardwoods in Salt Lake had two or three pieces, all unfortunately rather short but nicely figured.

Another shot, wiped with damp rag. In the outdoors shot its wiped with naptha.

This is still just bandsaw finish, not sanded.

total size 8x44x2" thick.

I will probably resaw this into bookmatched slices.

It looks like Zombiewood!

Lapsteel. Ash or maple back. Cocobolo top with an Ebony band between top and back laminates. I been thinking about this a long time.

Black Walnut is my favorite.The stuff grows right here in the yard too!The last cabinet shop i painted for couldnt keep the good pieces.Id be the first one outside when the truck pulled up.We had a kiln and sawmill there and I had some unbelievable walnut planks.Stuff that didnt even look real. ( Thats another sad divorce story.All my high grade guitar lumber disappeared.... :( )

Just added this to my rack of wood that I *needed* but no idea what to make with. In time it will tell me.

Claro walnut. About 27" the long way, and 2½" thick.

Got this nice piece of walnut today with a really stunning feather duster figure. Picture is dry, so it will pop quite a bit finished. Appx 22" at the widest. And 6ft tall. I've been doing layouts in my mind figuring out what to make with it. It will probably become the submini Marshall case.
