Storage room.
all in ATA cases so it's pretty modular.

When you don't store amps setup to play them don't take up much room.
It does make going to music stores rather pointless.
I can't stand going to malls. I get all sorts of uncomfortable and grumpy.

Make sure you power each amp up atleast once a month so the caps dont dry out.

Hey I noticed you had a Rickenbacher Transonic on there. I'm trying to fix up one of those right now. It's a crazy looking amp.

You've got to post your guitars, effects pedals, cables, what kind of strings you use, and that you like putting your amps to "11"

That whole thread on TGP, like so many on that site, is just so much wanking.

Nice try, that would have been very beautiful.

Bob Risson of Risson designed the Rickenbacker Transonic Amps. They are way sweeter to look at and go .. awesome MOJO! then they actually sound LOL but if it makes you feel cool to play and looks good isn't that all that really matters.

Each amp gets powered up and retubed at least once ever month to month and half. If any amp that sits in the case for over 6 months (not every amp is an awesome tone machine) They are brought up on a variac and fully serviced / tested before being used. The amps are fitted with whatever tubes the manufacture spec'd. Additional NOS are available at the expense of the client.

I thought about posting the guitars / FX / etc. but it was only asking about amplifiers. I'm bummed It didn't fit in a signature. I was hoping it would fill a full page. Then I'd have posted crap all over that forum just to wank off LOL.

have a good day

Kidding about what? The amplifiers, disliking MrScratch, or how lame TGP is? All serious.

I've been collecting amps for the last 15 years. Buying them broken or in need of service. Sometimes I'll trade studio time or repair services with people. When I started out I would get a lot of requests for tones or amps so I would research who played what when and how to get in the ball park and then try to rent or borrow that amp for the session. After a while it made more sense to buy the amplifiers except I didn't know how to bias more less what a tube was let alone how it worked. I got ahold of all the electronics books I could and once I understood the safety issues I bought a fender bassman that had blown the fuse. Turned out to need new caps tubes and a few resistors. I liked it.. Working on amps. It's pretty much an illness now with an excuse to collect them.

I find the original parts so no amp has an after market transformer or non oem tone cap. The only new parts I use are filter capacitors and tubes. Though most amps have an original set of nos too.

If I can find a chassis that is correct to the original I'll build a few dumbles. I'm just a few parts away from starting the TW's.
Both of those brands just aren't worth tying up that much $ for the rental return. So original parts clones are the next best thing at a fraction of the cost.

Sorry for the confussion. To bad I couldn't make my signature.

So which are your favorites? Top 5 desert island? or if you could combine different aspects and configurations into a single amp?

I went over there to check out something someone posted about over here, lasted 30 seconds, can't remember my password, life's to short.

I like those early 80's hiwatt cabs with the fanes....had one with my lead 100.

You can get almost any sound with a combination of these 5 amps and some pedals

Fender Bassman 4x10
Fender Twin Reverb blackface
Marshall JMP or JTM45 I'm on the fence.
Vox AC30 Top Boost
Hiwatt D-103

These amps are the main building blocks on which every other amp builder has based , tweaked, or added on.

The vintage small Ampeg combo's (jet, Rocket, etc) are amazing jazz amps.

top ten amps... Add

Ampeg Reverb Rocket
Ampeg SVT
Fender Champ
Marshall Jubilee
Roland JC-120

You are probably wondering why I didn't say Mesa Boogie or Matchless.. Both great amp manufactures but heavily influenced by the top 5.

My desert amp would be the Fender Sunn RI Model T w/ matching cab. It's clean or mean foot switchable. plug and play. Stupidly loud and cheap to replace. Plus it doubles as a pretty sweet bass rig. Probably the best sounding 4x12 with GT75's I've heard.

I like odd sleeper amps like Roost, Sundown, Risson, Thor, Benson, Simms Watts. Though most are just a clone of something else with a tweak or channel switching.

I understand about the boogie stuff, my single amp for a while was the quad fu-2 into strategy 400 and 2 4x10" road cabinets loaded with evms. Worked good as a bass rig too. Went from that to a vibroverb reissue for the last dozen years. Now I'm working on a 100 watt el-34 dumble early style clean with HRM on the OD but set up more like a hiwatt instead of a marshall.

If I can go from Jerry Garcia to Lowell George to Tommy Bolin and all points in between I'll be able to live with one amp. Since I can only have one guitar amp now I've gotta find a good all-rounder.

The amp should fit the bill. It Sounds like you at least know what you are looking for which is honestly the hardest part.

If you get a chance try out a Modern Vintage Tone Monster. It was made in Sancremento. As a signature model for Frank Hannon of Tesla. It's based around Frank's hiwatt with a marshall voicing. ~50watts from 2 EL34 winged =C=. It can clean up but it does an amazing crunch to full on rock. With a compression pedal or boost it has some of the best sustain and workable harmonic overtones I've heard (even next to actual dumbles and TW's).
