Man, you just can't choose your neighbors.
Unless you buy 10 acres and plunk your house in the middle.
But then you gotta go all Ninja and shit to keep trespassers out.
I think I would take rednecks over what we've dealt with.

I have a rental next door. I live in a tract from the mid 70's.
Nice middle class subdivision. At least it was in 1975.
Now it is a starter home division so the less desirables move in, and move in.....mostly Hispanic. Nothing wrong with that except they tend to live like they did in Tijuana. 20 cars per house, coming and going 24/7.
Hey, I'm an equal quality bigot, there is plenty of white trash around here as well.
Seems as if the median price of these homes is about what anybody can get financing for.

Festival music and polkas all night long, etc.

We can't afford to move.
Since construction came to a screeching halt, I haven't worked and the economists are saying 5-6 years to get going again..... :x

Luckily, the new renters next door are very quiet. Almost like they're trying to hide from somebody.
I won't jinx it by asking.

Far cry from the tweakers that have plagued us the last several years.
Seriously, I wonder if the landlord even screens his applicants.
I know he owns a bunch of rentals, slum lord.

Man, I gotta play the Lotto.
I'm gonna to go crazy if we have to live here when we retire.

Ninja it is! should I plant bamboo so I can hide.

I was thinking 10acres, fenced of course! complete with two bouvier guard dogs. The wife grew up with one and talks all the time about how bad ass it was.

I understand the French used them in WWI or was it WWII as guard and battle field dogs.

They can be vicious even if they look tame.

The dutch people call them friend dogs. Big dogs with really big heads.
Never seen one act aggressive - but I imagine it would be scarey if you ticked one off.

You need to plant bamboo so you have something to make punji sticks from.

You do know what to do after you cut the points... n'est-ce pas?

I've seen Rambo first blood

The wife tells a story of the family being gone for the day and her dad's best friend stopped by the house to pick something up for her dad. He got out of his truck and started toward the house. the dog got up walked over took his forearm in it's mouth and walked him back to his truck. let go and showed it's teeth. he got in and the dog set outside his truck until the family came home then it was the sweetest dog. just a "hey NO! I know you but you are not welcome in here without permission."
I met one in person once in virginia it was a rescue from an abussive home where the male would beat it. it hated my guts just for being male. I can say I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of that dog. Add in a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon for bird hunting and My dog food bill should be about as high as I care to go

Buddy of mine keeps a big Newfoundland chained to his workshop. Nice big friendly dog. He'll let anyone in, then he won't let them out.

Unfortunately that might not save you from an HOA.

Scenario;

A farmer decides to sell of a few 10 acre parcels, A few people decide they want to build/live in the adjoining properties. You get a couple new neighbors which seems all fine and dandy.

Ut Oh, one of them is a lawyer, he files the paperwork with the county & state to form an HOA, you are now legally absorbed by an HOA. No Vote, no choice.

This is true in most states, the info is out there, and its NOT a pretty thing.

lawyers piss me off, i get it they are at times a necassary evil, a few family memebers are very successful lawyers, but still they are not overly nice people. luckily one is a land use lawyer, the other a contract lawyer. Maybe i should start my own HOA and not be a fuck tard ;)

Actually,

That IS your only safety net, however, HOA's have to follow state guidelines. In some states(most) they are required to hold elections for HOA board members, file not for profit status, and lots of other fun things.
End result, adjoining property (bad element) could eventually end up board president of the HOA and change thing quick.

Here where I live we all thought it was miserable when the Developer was running our HOA, they clearly took us all for a ride financially.

During the developer turnover last winter we ended up getting an even worse bunch running things. Man I could write a book on this after the past nearly 7 years.

I want to start my own trailer park with a performance arena smack dab in the middle.

Of course you'll need to rent a hotel room in the next town over if you ever want to sleep...

Ooh! OOH! I want my own trailer park, I'll start a College of Cosmetology on the adjacent property. Maybe a half mile dirt track on the property on the other side.

Be great to do it like an Indian casino so all the bullshit laws don't even apply...

Funny you mention that. I'm writing a book. If you think the stuff I post here is flipped-out just wait and see! I read chapters to anyone I can corner, victims erm I mean my audience. I'm reading to a 42 y.o. severely diabetic blonde who pumps gas at the local Sonoco. I'm tellin' you that to tell you this: She has a best friend, her best friend is this little 105 pound brunette who wears way too much makeup. I look into her eyes, I see the inside of every bar I've ever been in. I tell her friend, "Poor girl! She was born without an ass!" 'cuz really, Best Friend Girl has the pelvis of an eleven year old. I'm tellin' you that to tell you this: Best Friend Girl wears stripper underwear, always black, always a thong. I can see the tag stickin' up outta the back of her low cut jeans above the crack of her non-existent ass. That little tag speaks to me in a firm clear voice, it says, "Yank me!!"
