Everyone is due a certain amount of respect from the get-go, that's just common courtesy. HOWEVER if one uses up one's allocation of respect and quickly ends up at a deficit it should come as no surprise to wind up with a big target on one's ass. "I'm a genius rocket scientist all bow down to me" might play in California but I'm not from California. Gar-Gar must live in a closet and never get out because that attitude usually doesn't work in any sort of interaction with human beings.

In all seriousness, watching Gary get gang-raped has been downright depressing, regardless of what kind of guy he is.

I might be inclined to see the humor in that if Gary had any sense of humor, fact is he's just plain nasty and arrogant and that comes across clearly wherever he shows his ugly head. I've been described as "pretty bright" myself but if I had Gary's attitude I'd get my ass kicked, too. I'd expect it, I'd deserve it, and those doing the kicking would be entirely justified in their actions.

When someone tells you over and over that they're God's gift to humanity it's a pretty sure bet they aren't.
