Wow!
How old is she?
She may have hit on something with her design.
I would advise you to immediately hire a patent lawyer and get the rights to the design before someone here clones it.

Re: Girlfriend's amp
I worked for AC/DC Electronics in Oceanside CA in 1976/1977 as a transformer supply helper. We built power supplies shipped around the world. Made our own transformers from tiny to those hauled in on a large pallet, that was a big transformer.
Any who, what I getting to with all this is the electronics assembly line was all women and the techinicians were combintation of men and women for QC.
Women have a good dexterity and multi tasking capabilities that I sure don't have.

... can you believe the way we carry on, like being a techno-geek was reserved just for the male gender?Jana wrote:It has already fallen! I have infiltrated your ranks and some of you even listened to my advice! Will this make history as the point where the last male domain started to fall
I thought it was just one of those names that works well in other countries like "Evelyn" or "Sasha" ya know... (is that denial) Or maybe it was one of those "A boy named Sue" scenarios. Could be we are in real trouble here when the circuits of the masters make sense to the "other" gender?? Now if j-po's girlfriends amp sounds better than my latest design I'm really gonna have a good pout over it... maybe I need more rakes in my design?
But then I knew we were trouble when I saw the Jeff Beck Crossroads 2007 video... and if that one doesn't rock your boat a little, then look up the youtube on April Lawton and Ramatam.

Re: Girlfriend's amp
My wife is a commercial artist by education and a Special Ed teacher by vocation... the latter of which probably helps dealing with me.....
I think that she's just glad that I go out to my garage to tinker with amps and wood rather than any number of other things... what I do out there is seemingly irrelevant...

My GF has me building her a 200 watt tube bass amp for her doom/metal band gig. Before I even talked gear with her, she was adamant that she have a tube rig...
So I am encouraged to tinker. Or at least finish her amp. Soon. Any day now.
Whats taking so long? I thought you said you know what you are doing?

Heheheh, yeah, I suppose it could be a two edged sword.
On one hand I wish my wife understood better what it is that I do but on the other hand, it is my refuge to go into my music room and work on guitars or amps.
Once in a while she complains about the amount of gear I have but mostly she is supportive of it.
Other than, why do you have so many guitars?
You can only play one at a time.......

My wife's most famous line--'When did you get that one'

That's when you say, oh that old thing, I've had it forever!butwhatif wrote:My wife's most famous line--'When did you get that one'
I try to schedule deliveries for when the wife is at work.
As I mentioned when I got the EVM 12L I knew it was out for delivery when I checked the tracking number in the morning.
So I hung around the house all day long.
The guy didn't show up until 8 pm! Busted.......
What did you buy? Oh, a speaker I wanted to try....
How much was that? Oh, about, mumble, mumble 94 dollars...
How much?! $194......What?!
If I don't like it, I'll just send it back....
Too bad that AMS doesn't accept returns on raw speakers.....I guess I'll have to keep it.

excusses
I have entered the corporate (legitimate) world after years of touring so my wife is always asking what my intentions are if my hair grows out a liitle or I practice a little more than usual...She has gotten over my having too many guitars and amps and understands there will always be another last guitar I need. My last one was almost accidental, a Composite Acoustics GX that had a way low opening bid on EBay so I though wtf and low-balled it. Boy was I suprised when the email came a week later saying I won. I even offered to sell a strat to make it right. I explained how durable the CA's are so when I came into my living room and found my 2yo son jumping on it in front of her she taunted me even more...
