Chicken Head Festish

Post by muchxs »

I'm coming out of the closet with my chicken head fetish.

Sounds like a Zydeco tune.

Then we have these white Daka-Ware knobs. I have mason jars full of the black ones. Original '50s white Daka-Wares are a little harder to find. I bought the whole 'scope just to get the knobs. As a bonus I got the same pilot light assembly as '49 to '53 Champion and 5C1 Champ... only with a green jewel. There are two "80" tubes inside as well.

muchxs, what's that stuff surrounding the periphery of the CRT in your o'scope? It's got the appearance of masticated canine fecal remnants,
or maybe chewed chaw. Those Dumont fellows have a sense of humor to accompany their aesthetics.

I too am a man with knobbish depravity. I sh^t a pickle whenever I stumble on Dakaware knobs in an unfamiliar color. Like these aqua/mint green pointer jobs I stuck on my Fernandez. My trip down knob-lover's lane began with the knob above them about 15 years ago. It's a yellowed tophat affair, bone simple, with an Ohmite dial snuck underneath.

Have any of you kooks documented your dementia? I'd love to tell my significant other there is a support group for our fetish. Actually, my ex can understand my fascination but when I bring out my latest score she always wants some for herself.

Many of the old 'scopes had a felt ring around the CRT. I've had units where there was a sliding metal ring lined with felt around the tube, it could be extened to shade the display for use in bright light. I got an ex-ICBM calibration 'scope like that. It was loaded with PIO caps.

Those Dumont guys must have been aging jazz-heads. Green panel, green pilot light, white knobs. There's a reason all that retro stuff is "cool".

I've got good stash of oddities. Odd colors, odd shapes.

I'm going to have to carefully document my "collection" so if anything happens to me my girlfriend knows what to do with it. She's always pestering me to "get rid of that junk". "It's worth money?! SELL IT!"
