Boss Waza is not great

Post by Reeltarded »

The LCR load muffles your amp like micing a speaker and running that through a speaker.

The effects loop is mono

There really isn't a reason to go any deeper. Another fan consensus committee designed door stop.

thanks Miles, it looked good on paper but if the sound's not there then it's useless.

I hope you had one to try or return.

Hi Miles,

can you elaborate a bit more why the LCR does not sound good? Did you try the Ox Box in comparison? Most people say thta the Boss sounds better than the Ox.

Thanks,

I'm a big fan of the Waza TAE. I don't have experience with the OX to compare, but the ability to load IRs and built in 100w amp that sounds great through the volume sweep is what I like best. I think the TAE tone with G12-65H 2x12 IR sounds really, really close to my real 2x12 with G12-65Hs. I will say I do not jive much with the built in speaker IRs so maybe that could be what you're experiencing? Wearing headphones to play guitar always felt weird but not with the TAE.

Waza TAE is certainly priced up there at $1200. I think I would go for a Kemper at that range. Once you remove that acoustic sustain of the guitar with volume it’s all a different animal anyway.

I guess what I'm getting at is the new Kemper foot pedal version thats already sold out, is $1700 and not far away from the Waza in price. I love my old amps but seem to play a deluxe more so than my Marshall, Vox , Fender Vibro Verbs, Playing by myself with a looper and so no drummer in the room, changes perspective. After buying pods, VS88 and other modeling shxt , I'm resisting The digital answer to things. It just keeps asking for a solution without the volume so I get the idea of a better passive load on a vintage amp. Do I sound confused? You Bet. I'm glad I don't have the extra money to make a decision right now.

I have one motto. Never turn your back on digital. :D

Have you looked at the Fryette Power Station? MUCH cheaper than the OX or the Waza box.

Have not tried the fryette. Interesting with the amp but no transformers? Must be a inverter style amp or something. Cool idea powering up a smaller amp.

I find when playing my Marshall 1987/1970 vintage, that my pick attack is light due to volume. When I play attenuated, I have a hard stroke that gets eaten with distortion and hence softened . The lighter stroke is preferred but also evenness in picking is sweeter. I’m not really a metal guy but my ears are tired after a very short time and hence no guitar tone for old men. :D pedals that react to your guitar volume and tone controls are my favorite these days. I would like to try the Fryette on my amps sometime.

It has transformers. Everything is inside the enclosure.
