hmmm.
So I did some tube rolling on my tweedle dee today. Ended up with some USA sylvania 6L6's in there. Played them for an hour or so then put the back back on the amp and fired up...
there was a lovely light show came from the rectifier valve then it went off.
It had blown the 1.5a fuse so I changed that, I also swapped the GZ34 out as well just in case, but the amp is dead. no pilot light, heaters nothing. Unfortunately it seems my trusty multimeter has also stopped working today, it powers up fine LCD is bright and clear but it will not register any values.
So any suggestions as to 1: the amp 2: the multimeter and how i can test one without the other?

Re: tweedle Dee dies along with my multi meter!!
well my spider senses were tingling and I felt the fuse holder didn't feel quite right, so I took the valves out and jumpered it. We have life
So i think it's just the multimeter to solve now.

For the meter, new battery, and it will have a fuse inside for the current sensing circuit. I've blown a few of those...
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

if it looks like it's ready but not giving output, you could test the cables with a good known resistor and push the leads down into the holes to see if it reads there, just make sure the leads of the resistor touch the metal inside the base sockets in the multimeter? that could imply the leads are bad.

thanks Phil, yes I've tried something similar, migth pull it apart again and attach leads to the connectors under the boards with it set to continuity to see if i can get it to beep.pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 6:45 pm if it looks like it's ready but not giving output, you could test the cables with a good known resistor and push the leads down into the holes to see if it reads there, just make sure the leads of the resistor touch the metal inside the base sockets in the multimeter? that could imply the leads are bad.

Might as well order another one I think though as I'm not sure what's gone wrong with this. I realize how attached I am to this thing!!!!

I have a DMM that was acting up after 20 years or so of use. I took it apart and used a little deoxit on the rotary switch contacts. I think it will now be good for another 20 years. Might be worth a try.

Try to avoid measuring voltage when the dial is set for current. Fluke Has that internal mA fuse that costs a fortune.
