Anyone seen these before? It's news to me (edit: MM version has been around forever so I must be living under a rock)
Apparently it's a solution for singlecoils. Uses a coil of magnet wire that I presume is wired out of phase to the pickups, and uses a trim pot in series (I believe) to tune the coil to achieve optimal hum reduction.
Basic Google searches hint that Music Man also uses a buffer on the dummy coil as well, and lots of people reference looking up the patent circuit to glean more info.
The Suhr version has a coil of wire wound into a strat backplate. I believe it's pretty much passive.
Anyone ever tried making one of these setups? Any thoughts or opinions?
Has anyone here tried either of these methods?

Re: Music Man
Been around since the 50s in prototyped guitars. Fender took until 1962 to get around to it. Their design put a dummy coil under the guard on the far treble side of the guitar. It works better with some selections than others, it does change the sound, it adds to production costs.. it wasn't ever used in production.*
