As I stated, I'll still buy a little from them if I'm in no hurry, because when they ship it's well packed and fast at a reasonable price. I don't even mind if it's slow as long as they let me know.

I'd do three times more business with them if they'd just even attempt to communicate when there's a problem...But they don't, so I won't.

Yeah it seems strange that they wouldn't drop a simple email saying
it should ship out in a couple days.
But to ignore any questions pertaining to the order is infuriating.

If I was building amps to sell, I would be hesitant to order from them since you are never sure when you'll get it.

Now I'm wondering if this PT will even work since it has a higher HT voltage than others I looked at.

I have never liked dealing with Triode.

At one time they had moved to a building a few miles away. I paid for something and wanted to simply pick it up.
They gave me a bogus address and then didn't answer the phone.

When I finally found the place they were really weird acting. Left a really bad impression.

For transformers it is actually faster to order out of state from Amp Parts Direct.
Same pricing & flat rate shipping.

In the past, I repeatedly received smashed and once a severely rusted transformer from Amppartsdirect.

These issues seem to have been solved.

I use both Triode and Amppartsdirect. Amppartdirect generally ships much faster. Whether the project can be completed depends on the condition of the goods received.

Not sure which one is faster. I love the products of either company. Good stuff!

I just cancelled the order from Triode too.
I made a payment at 12april.Product status mark as shipped about a week or two weeks ago.
But no tracking no. Sent.
I just check it again today and they told it may send on Wednesday.
They told they sincerely sorry but offer nothing.I do accept their apologize but don't wanna do any business with this kind of company.
Surely won't buy anything at Triode anymore.

Plein.

Hmmm, I ordered a 4 piece Twin set from Triode last week. Hope it goes smoothly. I've had good luck with them in the past.

It's weird, it's like once you place your order, they go dark.

Then a week or so later it ships.

Maybe they watch sites like this to see how wound up we get.

Well, I am glad they are around. The alternative for getting the Classictone transformers would be buying them per dozen.

Also, look at if from their side: the amount of profit per order quickly goes to zero if several emails have to be sent about every single order.

Just plan ahead. :D

That can be said of the PT/OT manufacturers as well.

I think sometimes folks are naive to think that some of these company's exist primarily just to serve this hobby. In the case of Heyboer, Marvel and MCI electrical musical transformers are only a smaller portion of their entire portfolio.

As the years go by, more and more of these high voltage components will cease to be offered, especially domestic made products.

Although thanks to companies like MC (and the internet), it is a hell of a lot easier to find transformers now than it was when I started 20 years ago.

I remember the order forms and snail mail.

We get so used to instant gratification that when something different
happens we are shocked!

I include myself in that.

Lucky to have them at all these days.

Hmmmm, sounds like a business opportunity. :D

Just joined the forum after I saw this post. Wanted to share my experience with Triode.

I ordered a 5e3 kit from Triode on 4/16. Got a shipping email the next day. They sent it USPS with signature required. Bummer, no one is ever home when the mail carrier comes. Have to schedule a saturday delivery. Finally get the package. It has everything but the transformers. I tried calling Triode and got voice mail. Tried several more times and always got voice mail. Left a message and sent them an email. No response for two days. Then I get another shipping notice. But, that one never showed that it got past the label printing stage in the USPS tracking system.

Long story short, still don't have the rest of my order. They finally responded to one of my emails and promised it would ship today. Never got a shipping notice and never got a response form my email or voice mail asking they verify they were sending the rest of the kit today.

The kit, what I got of it, looks nice and has quality components.

However, I seriously doubt I'll ever buy from them again. I can't stand poor customer service.

Also, I found what appears to be a decent alternative to buying transformers from Triode. On the ClassicTone site they have links to Amp Parts Direct. After I saw how slow Triode was being I ordered a set of transformers for a 5f1 kit I'm building from Amp Parts. They shipped next day and I got the package within four days of my order. I'll buy my transformers from them from now on.

I have to take up for these guys even though I too have had a few problems. Couple years ago I had a small order around $100 and got a substitute postman day it was delivered and went to wrong address. My address is kind screwy anTriode's mailing system had changed my address so carrier delivered it to right address but it wasn't MY house. Called Triode and actually talked to a nice lady and they re-sent order next day.A lot of places wouldn't do that and to me that's what counts. How someone does business when things go wrong is to me more telling than when things go right. They have always made things right andI am glad to have them as vendors and their website is a good source of info as well and will continue to order from them when feasible.

You can get MC iron from Watts tube audio as well but they don't provide shipping info either.

All of these business seem to have poor employees.

I still prefer Triode for my MC iron.
