Source for low cost pin jacks/test points?

Post by Phil_S »

Anyone have a source for pin jacks that's reasonable? Mouser is too expensive. I can't believe what they want for 'em. I'm thinking 50 cents, but even eBait has them for >$3. Naturally, I don't need/want quantity of 100, but I might go for 10.

Thanks.

Ask, and ye shall receive (very bottom of the page):

They're even a nickel below your cost requirement! I've used them a couple times. They don't have a tight grip like the ones I got from Digikey (or Mouser...I can't remember), but I think that's a minor point. Let me know if you need more pics. I'm pretty sure I have some kicking around.

Here are the same ones as the Hoffman ones (by appearance, anyway) for a little cheaper. I did get them from Digikey. Hooray, memory! Slightly more expensive than Weber's, but not crazy expensive like the others:

Be careful when you have probes in the jacks.

I bumped one of mine and it broke the probe tip off of the lead. :(

Oh and be careful what you order.

The first ones I bought were for banana plugs.

Don't let that smoke out!

So, this was my first order from Digi-Key. Up to 8 oz. they will ship USPS 1st Class mail for just over $3. So I threw in a few other things that I didn't really need along with some 100uf caps that I did need just to thin out the postage factor. It shipped same day (Friday) and I expect I'll have it Tuesday at the latest. So often, the shipping kills the deal. I know from experience it's hard to find a place that charges less than about $10 for a small parcel, so for a couple of caps and a handful of tip jacks shipping would have exceeded the cost of parts. I have to say, I was really quite elated to find a place that is willing to fill a small order and keep the postage down. I bought $20 worth of goods.

Of course, right after I closed the order, I realized I needed a few more things....for that I resorted to eBay and a Pacific rim seller who offers the stuff at prices so cheap it's hard to believe they have any profit from it. One item was 25x 1N4007 diodes for $0.99 including shipping from Singapore.

Awesome! I like DigiKey, because I get most things next day, or very close to it. The only thing I don't like about those is the plastic threads. My test leads fit VERY tightly in those, though. I don't worry about them falling out like I do the Weber ones.

I use a star washer and carefully tighten the nut. :)
