Tokai paint job
I'm considering purchasing this 1985 Tokai LS-60. Feels and plays pretty good. Refinish is nitro--ugly job, tho. Interested in your opinion. Guy is asking $800.

I wouldn't go anywhere near 800 not even half I'm don't no the market though. I mean what's a pro refinish cost? Then it still doesn't have original finish

Terrible idea. He's insane. i wouldn't buy it for more than a couple hundred bucks. And I wouldn't.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Thanks for the head check. I like how it sounds, but it actually doesn't play as nicely as my $300 Agile.

Re: Tokai paint job
I!ve acquired many similar guitar before and in the end, i enjoy refinish them the way i wanted. Note that this is not a cheaper way to go compare to an epiphone or agile. But you learn in the process, and a "scratchbuild" will be far easier afterward.
think of it as an introduction to lutherie but never spend that much for it.
200 to 300 max. You'll easely spend 50$ for refinishing it but, 50 hour to make it a nice playing guitar.
Make it for fun purpose only.
Cheers

Passed and returned it to owner. He promptly relisted it for $650. Well, good luck, buddy!

Not sure about in your neck of the woods but here in the PacNW the market has dropped a lot on the Japanese guitar market,, lots of decent deals to be had now compared to a couple years ago.

Just because cheap guitars have become expensive doesn't mean they are worth it, just that the world is nuts. Stay sane.
FYI:

Nothing against Giacometti, and it is an iconic piece of modern art, and good art at that, but the world is just nuts and money is just not worth anything anymore, at least to those that have plenty. There's just too much of it floating around and concentrated in the 1%.
I'm thinking if the wheels turn, Mr Cohen could tie a string to it and pull it around town.
