Fun junk find.

Post by Buschman »

Wondering where this came from. Hotel? Ship? Whorehouse? Has switches on it that say things like, left chair speaker, dual cabinet speaker. It has a phone dial and a time clock. It even has the schematic in it. Someone hand built this thing. Heathkit am and fm tuners and mono preamp. The best part is the w5-m that will end up being the mate for one I've had on the shelf just waiting to be rebuilt. Monoblock city.

Cool panel! It's got everything, as long as it's 1959 or so - phone dial, clock, speaker switching. I'm guessing hotel lobby commo & entertainment center. Maybe they even had "music on hold." Super nice find on the W5 Heath. Like you, I've got one hanging around since at least 20 years ago, looking for a mate. From what I've read, a nice amp to run KT66.

The Genelex kt66 are gone long ago from my old one and this one as well. I do however have some rca blackplates that may have to do. I am currently running a Dynaco st70 that I rebuilt but not really modded. Some uys run a mono system just to use this cool old stuff. I will probably ebay the tuners and preamps.

If in working order, these should fetch a decent price. I wonder if the lot of all 3 in one auction will be better than splitting into 3 auctions. I suppose there is no way to know for sure. I'm thinking the parts will bring more than the whole.

This is quite the find.

Maybe a left handed mat stretcher for a HS wrestling program? Or a precursor to the switching on a Mesa?
