USPS?
I've bee seeing these ads on TV for the Post Office. My friend just got his amp (Marshall DSL401) after it was lost in their system for a few weeks.

Re: USPS?
Always sorry to see this sort of thing. You can find this sort of complaint for every carrier. None of them are anywhere near perfect. they all lose packages. They all break contents.
I have a few comments.
1) Packing. Shipping an amp isn't like shipping a sweater or a box of cookies. They are heavy and they are fragile. IMO, that amp wasn't packed right. Inner box, padding, outer box is the minimum.
2) Damage. Anything you give to someone else, you need to figure it has to survive being dropped from 6' onto concrete. Pack it for that.
3) I wouldn't pick USPS for shipping an amp. IMO, you are better off with UPS or FedEx and for worldwide, DHL. USPS isn't in the package delivery business the way these other companies are. They still drop stuff and break it, but at least you are dealing with someone who supposedly specializes in moving packages of some substance, not letters and small parcels.
4) Insurance. You've got to be crazy to skip it on an amp.

My thoughts exactly; folks tend to take the slowest and cheapest route, pack it poorly and then blame the carrier. That amp was a floating missile inside that box.Phil_S wrote:Always sorry to see this sort of thing. You can find this sort of complaint for every carrier. Yikes! Was it padded at all? Doesn't look like it from any of the pics.
Re: USPS?
I agree with you all. Had this been mine I would have insisted on insurance at the very least, and probably would have requested UPS as the shipper. Nobody's perfect but I like UPS's record. Plus, the packaging here was ridiculous - almost nonexistent.
My friend does want the amp but will ask for some of his money back. I wish him luck with that.
