Firefox upgrade today
Eeeks. they moved stuff around at the top. I don't like it when they move the furniture. OTOH, they added a nice menu button at the NE corner.
Re: Firefox upgrade today
If you want the traditional "File," "Edit" etc. menu bar to be displayed, just right-click on the home icon and check the Menu Bar selection.
Re: Firefox upgrade today
I have been using Firefox for years but, ever since they started the continuos upgrades it has been screwy.

Re: Firefox upgrade today
I use the Comodo Dragon browser.
It is based on Chrome.
A while back I noticed it wasn't working quite right.
I messed around with it for a few days.
Then I downloaded the updated file and installed it over the program.
It must have had a glitch when I had updated it because after I installed the
the new file, it worked fine again.
I don't like changes to the way a browser looks or works.

There is a growing movement among in the free software community to copy every stupid user interface idea any crack monkey comes up with. Luckily there are also folks who work to undo this dain brammage.Phil_S wrote:Eeeks. they moved stuff around at the top. I don't like it when they move the furniture. Using the following add on you can get it back to mostly normal again:

Firefox Upgrade
I bought a new display and upgraded to Firefox 28 about the same time a few weeks ago.
I immediately noticed that I was getting words "overlaping" both vertically and horizontally on some sites. I just got the latest download installed, but I have the same problem. The same pages opened with Safari don't have this problem, but I prefer Firefox.
Here is an example:

Anybody know what's going on?

Re: Firefox Upgrade
That page renders perfectly on latest Firefox on Mac OS X. I might try uninstalling Firefox completely and reinstalling. Installers are hard to get right (been there done that).ampdoc1 wrote:I bought a new display and upgraded to Firefox 28 about the same time a few weeks ago.

The other thing to try is Shift-Reload (or whatever the Windows equivalent is). This tells the browser to not use anything it has cached locally and re-request all the bits of the page.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.
Re: Firefox upgrade today
It loads perfectly for me with Firefox 29.0.
I think Lefty is on the right track. It is a good idea to purge all of the temporary internet files. It is probable you are recalling corrupted files from the cache. It is harmless to purge them and usually helpful. If you haven't done it recently (or ever) all a block of time to allow it to run completely because there can be a very large number of files.
I use ccleaner from Piriform to do this and it is very efficient. Be careful if you d/l ccleaner, as there are bogus sites that have attached payloads to all sorts of commonly used software. Go directly to the publisher for the d/l and you'll be fine. http://www.piriform.com/
Alternatively, you already have the facility embedded in whatever windows software you are using. Decent instructions appear here: http://www.hotcomm.com/faq/faq_temp_files.asp
BTW, I have gotten used to the new FF and will leave it alone. I was just venting, I guess.

I guess they had to stop calling it that. Now it is polite, ccleaner!Structo wrote:I used Crap Cleaner for several years.
