Explorer meets Firebird? Probably inspired by the ol' Reece's Cup commercials...ampgeek wrote:Donald Roeser (aka Buck Dharma). One of my many favorite guitarists!

Thanks for identifying the mysterious Jr. B.Smokebreak wrote:Junior Barnard, played with The Texas Playboys in the 40's. Total pioneer. He's all over the "Tiffany Transcriptions" records. He had a real dirty, aggressive, distoted playing style that I fell in love with 20yrs ago. Bob Wills called him "Fat Boy" or "Roly Poly". Everytime I go back and listen to him I'm like "oh yea, THAT"S where I ripped off that lick". He played mostly an Epiphone Emperor(HUGE archtop), and strapped 2 pickups on it, drilled an extra output jack on it, and ran each pickup to a different amp. I mean, this was wild stuff back then.Structo wrote:I'm not familiar with Jr. B
Who is he?
Apparently Leo himself worked on the guitar . http://www.fretboardjournal.com/blog/wh ... leo-fender

I have read all about Bob Wills and his band, which Leo Fender relied on to demo his prototype amps.
Leo really wanted to be able to amplify guitars very cleanly with no to little distortion.
He probably had a cardiac event when the early rock n rollers turned his amps up into distortion.
Little did he know that his amps would be the foundation of rock n roll and the formation of Marshall Amplifiers.

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

I'd post a pic, but I can't decide. I can't pick a favorite. I couldn't live without Hendrix, or George Harrison, or Beck, or Robert Johnson or Paul Kossoff or Gilmore, or any guitarist named Mic. Steve Hillage, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew. Steve Howe. Jimmy Page. Clapton. Adrian Legg. Leo Kottke. Albert and BB. Rory Gallager. So many more that made that guitar make you feel something.
So many colors, why paint with only one?

And I'll add one not so great guitarist and not so great singer (by today's standards):

But his blues might be the first aliens encounter:

Re: Great Shot of Your Favorite Guitarist
I'll echo LeftyStrat's sentiment; I don't have a favorite. There are a great many guitarists I regard as great. Many have already been cited in this thread, so I'll add a few to that list of illustrious players:
Django Reinhardt
Alvin Lee (Ten Years After)
Frank Zappa
Phil Keaggy
Steve Howe
Roye Albrighton (Nektar)
Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe)
Rick Witkowski (Crack The Sky)

Re: Great Shot of Your Favorite Guitarist
My favorite has gotta be Allan Holdsworth. Sure everyone is amazed by his flying soloing but just listen to the chord voicings he uses!! Holy Crap!!
And he appears to be enjoying them too...
