Massive Tool fan here Dave!

I saw them last weekend here in Melbourne. Got a call from a mate at 6:30pm (2 hours before they were on stage) saying he had tickets to a Corporate Box and I was coming. Kinda ironic: Corporate Box and Tool!

But they killed it. Maynard was sick and throwing up on stage (apparently), so was a little off, but the 3 boys were incredible again.

They played lots of the old stuff and Push It was the highlight - absolutely epic.

It's the 5th time I've seen them and they were great.

I've always loved Adam's tone - thickness from the Diezel and mid range roar from the Superlead.

Justin Chancelor's tone was amazing and he has incredible chops.

But Danny Carey would have to be one of the great modern drummers. Hits with the ferocity of John Bonham and has the technical prowess of Neal Peart. Incredible to watch.
For the unindoctrinated, wait till 0:32, dime your monitors, and let your head and neck do what comes naturally.
Ahhhh, you missed the best bit - the talkbox solo!!! My 4 and 6 year old boys love that bit.

:D

Awww man, I'm so jealous. Wish they were touring here. Their shows are so great.

Yeah dude, live Jones sounds just like his recorded tone. Super crunchy and tight. I'd kill a man for that tone. Note to self...get schematic for Diezel VH4 channel 3

Yes he does. Very underrated. Sounds like a piano with chordal voicing. Very clear and clangy tone! Thhrrunngggg-ggg-ggg!

He's a helluva player and my favorite bands (/2ush, Police, Yes, etc) all are backed by drummers who are not just holding down a boring beat but control the dynamics of the song and pull it like taffy or skip it like a warped record. I ran into Carey at The Baked Potato a few years back when I saw Holdsworth with Chad Wackerman and Jimmy Johnson. I tried not to be an idiot fan boy. He was very cool.

Indeed! Glad to help.

In fact, you should roll your PA outside with a couple of 1000W Crown power amps and point it at that idiot neighbor of yours...put on The Grudge (Tool, Lateralus 2001) and let the music do the rest. Oh, and if he comes over to run his yipper, Reeltarded can hit him with a pie and I'll honk a bike horn. Honka!

(Miles I'm still getting a LOT of mileage out of that one. Somebody write that man a check ).

Same here. They have plenty to offer, but not what I'm really looking for. I still listen every once in a while. It's a nice change from the norm.
