Multitools
For years now, the only rival to my love of electronics is my love of multitools like Leatherman, SOG, Victorinox et al. They come in terrifically handy in a spot. I collect them.
Do any of you like or collect these jewels?

Re: Multitools
Not a collector but I did get this from Pigtail music. The owner (Forgive me I forget his name) sent this to me gratis with an order I placed for a vintage style Wraptail, studs and bushings for my junior restoration.

The little Swiss Army knife, the one that is about 2" long -- it has a knife, a file/screw driver, scissors, toothpick, and tweezers -- that is probably the best multi-tool out there and it sells for about $10. IMHO, you can't beat it. I've lost more than one at airport security.

Re: Multitools
The iPhone is the new Swiss Army Knife, but it makes a piss-poor bottle opener. I have not been without a SAK in my pocket for decades, usually the "Climber" model. If I'm out in the wild I like the Leatherman Juice CS4 multitool.

I carry a Leatherman with me everywhere.
Well, except the airport.

+++ on the Leatherman.
I got stopped in DTW airport withe a plastic ratchet T handle with a 3/4" long flat screw driver bit in it.
Forgot it was in my computer bag.
Told the guy I could do more damage to him with one finger.
Not impressed & confiscated.
Sign of the times.
Sadly.

Right after 9/11 I was flying for work. Before 9/11 I used to carry a tool bag on the plane with me without question. Anyway this one trip they were still doing random searches at the gate as you board the plane. I had my toiletries bag with me. This TSA guy searches through the bag and finds a nail clipper. The really small one. It had a swing out nail file (I guess that could be considered a multi-tool). He informs me I can't get on the plane with it. I said "keep it". He replies "no I can't do that" He then snaps off the nail file and gives me the clippers back. What the hell could someone do with a 1.5 inch nail file? The clipper jaws are more dangerous.Bob S wrote:+++ on the Leatherman.

If you know what you're doing, you can do more damage to a person with a deck of playing cards than a nail file or clippers. TSA is silly and ineffective.
