That first YES album and the Live at the BBC stuff shows just how good he was. Totally different than what was going on around him, blues based stuff. Plus Squire and Bruford behind him, killer band.
I saw Peter in Flash at the "Frolics" in Salisbury Beach Mass. He used a red ES345 and a Hiwatt Pyramid. Two 4x12 side by each and then another 4x12 in the middle of those on top centered. Then a 100w head. Sounded great and my first real glimpse of a Hiwatt amp. Got one soon after.
RIP.....

Yeah Howe was pretty good alright. I first saw them on the YES ALBUM tour on July 8th 1971 as the opening act for Jethro Tull doing it's Aqualung tour. I caught YES in Boston on every tour after that sometimes seeing them twice!
YES just blew me away. Total unknowns to me then I went and bought that album as well as the first two with Banks.
And Banks later released a solo with guys from Genesis and Focus all playing on it that was pretty good too.
Damn I'm old!!
PS On the Fragile Tour King Crimson opened for YES, on Close to the Edge it was the Eagles...WTF!!
