They chewed a hole in my mother's soffits and tried to reside in her attic.
3 were removed with tranqulizers and the fourth a week later before the roofing was replaced with frangible ammunition.. and that one was rabid.
Wild animals. Rawr.

Re: We Can't Let Our Kitties Out!
I grew up in an area where there was a pretty bad outbreak of rabies among them, so I always steered clear of them.
I freaked out one morning here in Seattle, when I went out on my back porch and there was one that was huge walking calmly across the street, into my yard, and climbed a tree that was covered in ivy, staring right at me the whole time.
And by huge I mean at least 50 lbs. Apparently the older scandinavian ladies that live in my area of the city have a tradition of feeding them marshmallows.

Excerpt from that link:
In 1934, top Nazi party official Hermann Goering received a seemingly mundane request from the Reich Forestry Service. A fur farm near here was seeking permission to release a batch of exotic bushy-tailed critters into the wild to "enrich the local fauna" and give bored hunters something new to shoot at.
Goering approved the request and unwittingly uncorked an ecological disaster that is still spreading across Europe. The imported North American species, Procyon lotor, or the common raccoon, quickly took a liking to the forests of central Germany. Encountering no natural predators -- and with hunters increasingly called away by World War II -- the woodland creatures fruitfully multiplied and have stymied all attempts to prevent them from overtaking the Continent.
and you thought you knew the worst of the nazi problem

Great. People love animals. Me not so much. They dig the stuff up break your junk mess up the neighborhood and bite kids and old people who feed them.
Wild animals. Rawr. Hmm.. Ok. Pow!
Next time I have a wild pig in my back yard at 3am I will get pictures before the cook out unless it's on a Sunday between 12a-12a Monday when it is against county laws to use centerfire ammo because I am not stupid enough to take rimfire to a pig fight.

Well, I guess the raccoon I saw wasn't the biggest, the one in that picture is 75 lbs.vibratoking wrote:http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/20 ... oblem.html

I have a problem with woodpeckers in my neck of the woods. I don't worry about the city, the county, the state, or the feds. Supposedly they are Federally protected. But as usual for the govt - I haven't seen one Federal agent actively protect a woodpecker on my property, yet. Where are their priorities I wonder? Have woodpeckers become a political football too?

Those things are excellent with almost any common steak rub. Very similar to roseate spoonbill, or bald eagle.

When I was a kid I was told I had a way with venomous insects, then I got nailed and started making shoes my liason to the office of venomous insects.

Had a possum covered in babies crawl into our laundry room when I was a kid.
They hiss.

It's creepy, and you expect those babies to jump off and run toward you like spider babies.

Jesus Christ Superstar. Weird movie.. confusing. Tanks? Jets? Ok.. -marks alw off birthday list-
Coming back though something white caught my eye hanging in the fence by my grandmother's house. Oh! A possum with .. babies all over i... YIKES!!! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!!
They hiss. They pop. They sound like an unserviced tweed full of bad caps and a conductive board on 12 and they are twice as shocking.
