Electronics Goldmine - bargains

Post by Phil_S »

Someone posted a link to Electronics Goldmine http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com for LED-LDR optocouplers for audio. These are similar to the incandescent-LDR in my Gibson Minuteman appear as if they will work in the tremolo circuit. They are dirt cheap. 1 for $1, bag of 20 with 10 expected to work for $2. This type of coupler is virtually impossible to find.

I've been shopping the site and while merchandise for tube amps is a bit spotty, there are some things that I think may be worth snapping up.
Miniature 1 pole 6 pos or 8 pos rotary switch mil spec $2.49/$2.69 very nice for output impedance
Mini toggle switches under $1
Bridge rectifier PC mount 35¢ 600V 15A and others for 29¢
Pack of 5 pin jacks $1.49
Pack of 10 mylar caps .001u 1200v $1
Pack of 30 mylar caps .022 630v $1
Pack of 5 .1uf 630v mylar caps $1
Other good toys like gator clips, ring terminals, sandblock resistors and huge cheap mystery boxes of things that might be useful but I suspect voltage ratings of caps and resistors aren't up to our high voltage work.

If you have time, you might stock up on a few things. Not everything is a real bargain.

My shopping list got up to about $16 for a pile of stuff. Don't know if I'll take the plunge. We all feel the need to hit critical mass so the shipping isn't 5x the cost of the parts.
