gents,

thank you very much!

nice amps jelle! very classy with the suede covering!

after hearing a couple of amps i always thought i was missing stuf. like to muffed sounding or not enough gain. i like to do everything with the volume knob but have nog found my thing yet. that's why i thought the trainwreck was the thing i am looking for.
but, today i spoke to a guy saying that al the clones have problems with tubes going to sceel and making cracking noises after a couple of weeks due to wrong scheme's. and i should go for a hot rod III and change the speaker.

can somebody please help me with this dilemma!

i thought that the TW Express was my game but now... i don't like to change my tubes every other month.

regards,
Bernard

Welcome - also a newbe here - I'm getting up to speed by reading the book "The Guitar Amp Handbook" by Dave Hunter .
It was available at my local library - Amazon has it too - check it out, things get more clear and debunks a bunch of myths in the first 40 pages.

Welcome, Burnhard.

You can't believe everything you hear. Trust the guys on the internet!

Just kidding, but seriously, I built an Express clone and have been using the same tubes for more than a year with no problems. Others here will report similar success. You may want to build something easier for a first amp, just to get a little practice and experience.
