Re: Anybody heard of this?
One of the guitar magazines did a review a few months ago. If you watch him play he around slides a lot but doesn't really bend the notes much. I forget what the caveat is with that device to be able to bend notes, but if you let it do what it wants to do it will try to retune your bent note.
Re: Anybody heard of this?
It probably only has limited travel to retune.
I'd guess you bend till it takes up the play, then more to bend the note.
Sort of like 2 stage trigger pull.

The mass of the thing must have a tonal impact, and besides, if the artist has
any stage presence at all, a tuning break is the perfect opportunity to get
some audience interaction going and makes for a better show.

A guy work with who has probably never picked up a guitar, emailed me a link to a youtube vid on this yesterday, the the CNN thing explains it.
You have to set it to the edge of its "free play" to be able to bend. I don't think it would work well with a whammy bar.
I'm sure none of us feel we have a use for this, but I'm also sure that most of us think it would be a great idea for some of the other guitar players we've had to share a stage with!

Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

Any time that you have to perform additional routing on a guitar body to incorporate a new device, most guitarists will not want to do it.
