Mouser Double Charges..
Placed an order online with Mouser to get some SS components I can't get from the usual suppliers.
I figured I could grab some other amp building supplies...resistors, caps, wire, etc.
Couldn't find what I wanted, and when I did it was either out of stock or extremely low quantity on hand.
Who says they have great prices?
Maybe if I order by the truck load!
Anyways the order total was about 18 dollars.
CC online statement shows another charge for 17 dollars and change.
Wife calls them and they're saying they charge a "reserve", then "refund" it regularly.
Hmmm?
That better not be the shipping charge, and no it isn't.
Does this happen to everyone?

Re: Mouser Double Charges..
Mouser does not have great prices IMO. They pretty much charge the going rate. They do have alot of stuff and no minimum, which helps.
I have never noticed any 'reserve' charge.

Re: Mouser Double Charges..
I don't know what this "reserve" charge is. Are you in the States?
I like Mouser, but always have a hard time "guesstimating" what the total cost of an order will be from item to item before actually looking up the parts. Sometimes prices are great others, not so much.

mouser has pretty good prices on a lot of things...
however, it really doesn't stock a lot of the stuff that is already stocked by the tube speciality distributors.

Sounds illegal to me.

Yes, in the states, South Carolina.
It was a WTF moment.
I'm sure they will make it right.
Thanks for the replies!

I see it from all of them. Most of the companies add shipping in after you place your order, and just give you an estimate. They put the hold on your card, ship the order, cancel the first charge and then put the exact total on there.Cygnus X1 wrote:Yes, in the states, South Carolina.

Also, where in SC are you? You should order from Newark if they have the parts you want. They are located in SC, and FedEx ground is one day to anywhere in SC.
They may be starting soon with things like tube sockets, etc. Last time I placed a giant order with mouser for some caps and resistors I got a phone call from them asking me if it was for amp building. Apparently they are catching on that they could sell even more if they stocked those as well.diagrammatiks wrote:mouser has pretty good prices on a lot of things...

I'm in Columbia.

Re: Mouser Double Charges..
that would be hot. Lot's of companies are doing axial high voltage caps and full value range radials again. It looks like mouser is slowly placing a bunch of stuff on stocked status.XgamerGt03 wrote:I see it from all of them. Re: Mouser Double Charges..
It might be worthwhile for us as a community to contact Mouser requesting they carry tube amp parts and such. It's quickly becoming a non-negligible market as more and more people learn how easy it is to build their own amps. Think about if they became a true one-stop shop for amp parts and such..
I guess since I live in Texas this would be the ultimate convenience because Mouser takes less than 24 hours no matter where I am in Texas to get me an order (and for $7 using UPS Ground).

Ahhh, I (barely) remember that town! I'm pretty sure I got a case of the crabs while staying @ the "Heart of Columbia" Hotel (motel?) in the late 70's while out on tour (or maybe it was from the company I was keeping at the time?).......good times.Cygnus X1 wrote:I'm in Columbia.
I also got attacked by a squirrel in one of the parks close to the hotel. I was feeding them peanuts & one of the tree rats jumped over the other to get a nut from my hand, landing squarely on my forearm, full claws exposed! I still remember that sickening feeling....otherwise, I have great memories of Columbia!
Anyway, I think I'll try an order from Newark. I seems they have greatly improved their ordering system since a last tried them many years ago.

The word "squirrel" has a historical significant meaning around the USC campus area.da Geezer wrote:I also got attacked by a squirrel in one of the parks close to the hotel. It's used like others use the word "beaver".
IE..."squirrel hunting" means looking for "trim".
If that's the type that attacked you...no wonder you got crabs!
