Re: Flames and Fire on the home front
thanks Ed. Mother nature teased us a little today, we had a few minutes of rain but not near enough yet.yowza wrote:RJ,

Good storm here in Phoenix last night, that washed away most of the haboob dust. hopefully it made it's way East to you.

A "good storm" here will likely incur considerable flooding since the scorched earth is almost water resistant - lots of debris (ash) will end up in the watershed.
Re: Flames and Fire on the home front
Yep a catch 22 for sure. Want the rain to help control the fires but the biproduct is not a good thing either.

Hey RJ, glad you came through unscathed. I had been thinking about you and some other friends in LA. We got some of your smoke up here a while back. I drove down to ABQ last week and I could see the column of smoke, and even the flames from the highway. It looked like a major league fire. It's dry here too, but so far nothing but a few small brush fires.
Sounds like it was a close call!

Update: Santa Clara pueblo lost 80% of their forest land and 90-95% of their watershed was burned. They are asking for volunteers to help fill sandbags to stem the predicted flooding in their watershed and the subsequent silting of their river and streams. They got hammered.Zippy wrote:A "good storm" here will likely incur considerable flooding since the scorched earth is almost water resistant - lots of debris (ash) will end up in the watershed.

What is going on with the weather around the U.S.
North Dakota is flooding in all four corners of the state and the rain keeps coming. Homes have been flooded in different areas of the state and many more expected in Devils Lake area in Northeast part of state.
