Re: Auto-Tune for Guitar
Pretty neat, too bad it will be highly abused like the voice version..

Re: Auto-Tune for Guitar
You're probably right about that
I'd like to see a demo where the basic tone is better (maybe installed a high quality guitar?).
Also, if it were an outboard unit, rather than built into the guitar, it would be useful for guitars that are fun to play, but have inherent tuning or intonation problems (like my old thin-neck SG, which never stays in tune for more than one song)
But it is way cool as far as software goes...

Re: Auto-Tune for Guitar
If it's anything like the early rack mount unit they built it will be a real bitch to program and sound very digital. i.e. put it low in the mix and never peak it's limits.
I guess i'm missing something.. isn't this market already tested and failed? anyone remember the Gibson Robot line? You can't even give them away and they were regular playable guitars built by gibson.
if you want to pitch correct a guitar record it and use a pitch correction software.
If it's live... I sense a new wave in lay offs... guitar tech? Canceled out by Mac Nerds - Ipod software programers.
I get the feeling with the decline in sales, companies are trying to spark a new client.. the tone def and / or lazy kid who would play maybe .., at least buy a guitar (because they rocked at guitar Hero) but didn't want to learn to tune.
I know it's youtube and the audio is jacked but it really sounds like the ART 2000 Express. Digital Top end of Queens Ryche.... to bad he didn't break out the Jet City Woman....

Re: Auto-Tune for Guitar
I didn't watch the youtube vid, but how can this work on the microtonal bends that I seem to frequent so often? This sounds like a useless crutch that those who are looking for instant gratification might gravitate to.
Re: Auto-Tune for Guitar
That plus a fretless guitar and you're all set
Re: Auto-Tune for Guitar
Be a absolute bugger with my stle of playing, wide finger vibrato, double bends plus a bit of slide, i seem to remember roland doing something vaguely similar on the VG series processers, sounded cool at the time but in fairness a well set up guitar should show no disernable variations to most people(except us guitarists of course
)
