Robben Ford 5-6-11 Austin

Post by billyz »

Saw Robben Ford Last night at the One World Theater in Austin TX.

He had his green light Dumble and a standby Super Reverb. Never even turned the Super Reverb on. He had a three piece with Tos Panos on Drums and Andy Hess Bass. Sorry for the grainy pics only had the wifes droid. He played a Tele and the SG . The SG had twin Humbuckers that appeared to be aged, The head stock had "The Gibson" and what looked to be a L5 type flower pot inlay. They looked to be more abalone than pearl. Stop tail, three old screw holes from the vibrola. No rack, just floor pedals. His chord work was outstanding. You could really hear the Miles Davis influence. He did one blues shuffle like I have never heard it done before. Started out like any shuffle in E but then started throwing chord substitutions in all positions, wild.
