AES has just added an amp kit to their catalog. Has anyone seen these up close and personal? They look interesting but I'm curious whose trannies and such they are using... You'll can find this if you do a search for "Mod 101" on their website.

Re: 6L6 or EL34 Tube Amp Kits from AES
With amp kits just about available at your local mall it's no wonder CE/AES has decided to offer theirs.
Not many details available though. The price is listed as $595 on the AES "Featured Items" page. Looking at what's there it looks like it could use a cabinet. It offers protection for the tubes but it's not roadworthy.
"32 different circuit variations"?! I predict a deluge of "which amp?" posts. I can pick out half a dozen iconic circuits, build one of each and you're covered. They include:
1) Something small and single ended. Everyone needs a grab and go amp.
Fenders:
2) Tweed Deluxe
3) Tweed Bassman
4) Something black panel with reverb like a Deluxe Reverb or a Super Reverb
Marshalls:
5) Just tweak your 5F6 circuit into Marshall territory.
6) Of course a 'Wreck, I'd go with a Liverpool because it covers the higher powered amp with EL84s slot.
Of course you can buy or build lots of amps, in the end that will only affirm that the good stuff is still the good stuff.

Mod 101 Kit Amp
These are from the MOD 101 amp kit.
The one I named BF looks basically like the normal channel on a BF Bassman I believe. I have attached a couple more.
Anyone have any ideas on what they are copying?
The values changes from stock are in red as is the tube complement.
I think the 32 variations is technically true and the possible variations. It doesn't discuss 32 it discusses five.
1. Fender Tone Stack Mod
2.Input Voltage Divider Mod
3.Negative Feedback Mod (this one is done with no. 1, but doesn't have to be.)
4. Bypass Cap Mod
5.Power Tube Mod

Re: 6L6 or EL34 Tube Amp Kits from AES
I hate to answer my own question , but after looking over a couple of Marshall Schematics, namely the JMP 1987 and the JMP 2204 Master Volume It looks like that if one would do the Input Voltage Divider Mod and Maybe the Bypass Cap (too make highs smoother) and Use EL34's he might get a somewhat Marshallesque sounding amp.
If anyone has any opinions on this let me know.

Re: 6L6 or EL34 Tube Amp Kits from AES
They have had the MOD 101 out for quite some time and it has been going down in price over the past few years. Currently $395 from CE.
Reasonable for the parts you get I think.
They have another kit as well.
