Review of the TC Nova Delay and Xotic EP Booster

Post by billyz »

I just have to give a big thumbs up for both these products.
The TC Electronics Nova Delay pedal is stellar, especially the Dynamic setting. That alone is worth the price of admission. I have and had a few delays, I still keep the Memory man around, But the Nova Delay's Dynamic setting is just exactly what I have been looking for. I also think I will use the reverse setting for some trippy stuff.

Got this one from Nova Musik for $190 and free shipping. The price drops after you put it in your cart.

The Xotic EP Booster is the best clean boost I have ever heard. I have a Sexdrive and I have built a few AMZ boosters, have used the MXR, Fulltone, SHO and others. I originally went to Guitar Rez to pickup the Xotic RC booster after trying a few of my friends. The RC is really good too, but A/B'd with the EP, the EP wins. It is very addictive and hard to turn off.
Sounds like a big billowy cloud with all the right tone, depth, transparency. $116 with a battery. Nice build too.

Say whut, no marshmallows?!??

Have you tried a Tonebone Classic? I have one and like it. I'm no expert in these matters though.

I would love to hear that...it's one of those holy grail things isn't it? It either sounds good or really naff!! Can it actually substitute the original note for the reversed one? I think it is one of the few sound that do induce a 'trip' in the brain; it just doesn't let you hum along... 8)

Thanks for the review mate..

Andy

Billy, I've got the Andy Timmons BB preamp and I love that thing. A friend gave it to me for fixing his favorite amp. Xotic makes high quality stuff. Very good tone adjustment even though there is only Bass and Treble. Nice hot and bothered boost. 8)

Yes, the reverse actually does reverse the notes. play an ascending run and it becomes descending. like reversing a tape recording.

I have a Nova and I agree. This is by far the best sounding delay pedal I've ever owned even without all the additional features. I love the line level input. I use it in the loop of a Dumble clone with no buffering, sounds GREAT.

I have only one TC Electronics product, the G Sharp rack unit.
It's an FX unit with delay and other vibe effects along with reverb.
I run it through my D'lator.

I use just a touch of delay and reverb in my day to day playing but I have to say it sounds the best of any FX unit I have tried.

I like it a lot and would buy TC gear again.

+1 on the G Sharp. Sweet reverb.
