Hi people, just a quick hello to introduce myself. Been getting interested in guitar amps, since I used to play a bit of rock over the years, and finally built a simple guitar amp recently, not finished yet though. I had some questions, did a bit of searching, and came across this forum.
I am impressed with the friendship and sharing going on here. Plus the Trainwreck info is sucking me in, I can feel a Trainwreck something coming on, probably a Rocket.
The last couple of years I've been learning about tubes via hifi amps so I could get a decent stereo system together. In the past, I always had hand-me-down solid state stereo amps, and some tubed stuff for guitar, I thought tubes were only good for distortion so no good for hifi. Well that all changed and I ended up with some amps that I am happy with. I went far enough with the hifi side of tubes and now its time for tube guitar amps.
I don't like intro's but feel the need here and I'm no spring chicken (50) so there you go. Think I've worked out why guitar amps and hifi amps are so different in so many ways but there's still a few niggling questions, its been interesting to say the least so far. There are some prolific builders/testers/modders here, I think I might fit in, not so much with prolific, but I'm not afraid to try new ideas and also run with tried and proven.
Ian.
