18Watt

Post by Bob S »

For some strange reason I've never been allowed to sign up at 18Watt.
Tried 3 or 4 times - denied. Even e-mailed asking why - no reply.
Strange.
Then I found TAG and the journey began.

Hi Mike,

I've inquired with the system admins and am awaiting a reply. Perhaps 18watt is down for the count but the domain name is still registered.

Regards,
Dave

No big loss as far as I am concerned ZP only harassed me with each of my posts anyway.

Your either welcomed and liked or harassed at that forum.

Mike and Mark,

I do agree about the culture at 18watt. It was a bit odd at times and the forum was often very slow. I much prefer the depth and breadth of technical discussion and quick response time on this forum. 18watt kept getting hacked and valuable information was continually being lost every time they restored the database. A bummer really.

Mike if you need any schematics from 18watt, I have most everything worth having and Mark Fowler most certainly does if I don't.

You are being kind Mark. That guy is a tool bag. It was almost comical to watch him attack anyone with technical knowledge. He absolutely could not abide being bested or beaten or made to look like he knew less then anyone else. That is the way that much of the forum got and culminated in the ejection of any "non-18watt" discussion. My theory has always been that ZP and the others in control knew that they couldn't possibly be in control of and "know everything" about every possible topic if the forum was allowed to grow and start discussing anything the people wanted to talk about. So anything else was banned. It was about control.

The Amp Garage is such a cool place because it is just the opposite. TAG has a lot folks who are cool, and very few tools.

Follow this link and go from there:

There's something messed up with front page access.

I got a reply from Graydon, 18watt's system administrator. He said they are in the midst of a major overhaul, upgrading the system OS and forum software. The link jaysg provided above is correct for member access in the time being.

I must now be a non-member, access denied.

Good I won't waste time reading the old posts.

I was a long time contributor there and was banned a while back for calling Phil out on his bullshit. Oh well. No big loss as all the cool and knowledgeable folks moved over here. 18 watt has become a major tool shed filled with newbs and gasbags.
