In college my roommate had a little 90CC bike he used to get around town. One weekend he decided for no apparent reason (there might've been alcohol involved) to take it apart and bring it into our room piece by piece. He then put it back together and wheeled it into the elevator. When he reached the lobby he fired it up and drove it out while me and another guy held the doors for him.

My youngest son is a motor head and he does exactly this without our permission by the way. Working on moving the ole boy out soon!

My brother and his buddy rode there Bridgestone 175 and Riverside 45cc through the high school hallways, good thing it was the last day of the school year. :)

That's nothing, at least one person did that every year in my HS. In fact one year a guy drove a VW bug through the gym, turned out to the be the gym teachers car

Debbie Downer says:

Doesn't gas have to be aerosolized to explode?
Life is a tale told by an idiot -- full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

...in other words: rock and roll!

I'm sure there was plenty of gas fumes coming up from the toilet to get the job done.

I don't see anything so weird about bring one's scooter in the house--I used to bring my sportster into the living room for the winter. Way better than an xmas tree! I did drain the carb before I wheeled it in though but that was after I rode it up the stairs on the deck.

I think that is an old urban myth although funny.
I remember reading a similar story but a guy that drove his car through the garage wall.
Then after coming home from the hospital was using the toilet and lit a cigarette, throwing the match in the bowl, thus blowing himself through the wall.

Several of my friends used to work on our motorcycles inside the house in the Winter.
Hell, the garage was too cold!

Although I can't remember ever using a bowl of gasoline inside the house.
That is just plain dumb.
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

Top Gear did a segment years ago about some fulla who built a drag car in his kitchen, from scratch. And his kitchen had no door big enough to get said car out.

But it was a nice warm room out of the rain, so he just kept building it after he realised this.

I think that half of the segment consisted of wreckers demolishing his kitchen's outside wall to get said car out.

In my 2nd year in university I bought 2 identical BMW r65s bikes
They were in various stages of (dis)repair

Brought them both up into my second floor apartment I shared with a buddy. The building had stairs only, - no elevator

I took them apart and under the guidance of my friend who had re-built his own classic bike, I assembled one complete bike.

Pushed it down 2 flights of stairs with the help of a friend who kept it from running away down the staircase. (we sweated like pigs from the sheer effort)
Fired her up in the parking lot with the help of a pair of jumper cables because the battery was a bit low.

My patient girlfriend (who is now the mother of my 15 year old daughter) and I took many memorable trips on the bike

Aaaaah the days!

We were young and restless and bored and brave

Slowly life beats sense into you and the fun gets less and less

I used to ride mountain bike in the studio, does that count?

I used to own a Rolex. I looked down one night, I had totally wasted my Rolex on a door knob.
I believe in this and it's tested by research...
