a neighbor brought over a tee shirt press... no model or make just say CHINA. anyway the relay was melted. he tracked down a close or similar replacement. 12vdc 30A
anyway the new one is labelled
0---- coil-----1
    4 o-- o 6
when i hook it up it buzzes like a door bell.
how do i fix this? I'm assuming it needs a diode?
if i could trip the relay so it would
0---- coil ---- 1
   4 o----o 6
close it will work.
suggestion or ideas? i'm all ear!
thank you!

						Re: SPST 12Vdc Relay Question
update....
I've reversed the wiring and the relay is no longer ringing like a doorbell
however it's not triggering unless it is manually enguaged. when closed it works great!!!
how do trigger the relay to start closed?
I'm starting to think he has hooked up the wires incorrectly, which will pose a very big problem seeing how the press is not labeled in anyway.

						Re: SPST 12Vdc Relay Question
ok so i did some research and the fix to this problem is a new relay.
relays come in so types an open switch marked "NO" meaning normally open.
and "NC" meaning normally closed. in this application the relay needs to be closed in order to pass crrent to the heating plate. then when a set temp. is reached the relay is triggered and the ciruit is broken preventing the plate from getting to hot.
with a 12vDC 30amp SPST "NC" relay the press should be as good as new.

Sorry wish I could have helped but I'm not really familiar with those devices.
Sounds like you got it sorted.

Re: SPST 12Vdc Relay Question
it's all good i'm not really a relay guy either, I used them in car audio in high school but they were always part of a kit with a wiring diagram and directions.
