Attention all Hamer owners.

Post by azatplayer »

Hey all hamer owners! I have a buddy with a few Hamers who is looking to sell some off due to GFC. I trust his judgement, but have only played one Hamer, an Artist.
Well he was selling another Artist and asked me for some advice on shippijg as he is in San Diego, im in Melbourne Australia and the prospective buyer was in my home town.
I told my good mate here about it and he snapped it up!
Thing is he has a couple older ones, that has me intrigued.
Ones a 81 'checkerboard' special, the other a 91 carvetop sunburst.
The special is a little beat up, has a flat top, dimarzios from when Larry was winding himself, in its case and about 800 bucks.
The sunburst is carved top, so a later one, has a tuneomatic bridge, seymours, super quilty top and minty mint collector condition for about 250 dollars more.
I like the beat one, it has some mojo, he says sustains like nothing else, whole neck vibrates in hand, and im not huge on quilt.
The sunburst is a little glam, with white binding o body and neck.
He says the special has a kinda SG vibe, but a tad brighter, but the dimarzios are very open and paffish, never muddy.
Would welcome any opinions on these fine guitars. Either way, not a huge amount of cash for a guitar of this quality.
Cheers Don

Are you looking for someone to try them and render a neutral opinion? (I'm in San Diego)
