Chords for The Shadows veriosn of Stardust

Post by tubeswell »

I can play the lead easily enough - that bit is not the problem it is the chords in behind it.

I think I've got most of them, but I know there are some I can't quite git. I looked all round the net and couldn't find a single chord tab for this, so I had a go over the last 6 months of listening and re-listening and tabbing and re-tabbing and re-re-tabbing (til I'm fed up with tryin' to tab it), but I still don't have it quite there yet. If anyone else'd care to have a look at what I've done and maybe it you know you could kindly tell me where I've gone wrong. These old ears ain't what they used to be. The bits I'm the least certain about are the chords for last lines of the 2nd and 3rd verses.

Not that I typically care for pinpoint accuracy in my own interpretations of other songs, but I would really like to know specifically what they were playing in the background, purely for my own edification

Any ideas/comments gratefully received

Cheers

I'll have to go through my stuff and see if I have a recording of that. I play a lot of Shadows material in a three piece format, so I don't usually get the chords down either. If I have a recording I'll try to figure it out. Phil

Thanks Phil

I'm fairly sure I've got the basic structure right, except for the lines at the end of the 2nd and (particularly) the 3rd verses. I'll have another go later, but in the meantime I'd be interested in any answer you come up with.

Cheers

I only made it through the first verse or so and will have to get some HW done before I hit the next two but I think the chord you're looking for right after the A in the first verse is a Am with a major 7th.

Something like this:

Code: Select all

-----
--1--
--1--
--2--
--0--
-----
or

Code: Select all

--4--
--5--
--5--
--7--
-----

Well I found another forum of Shadows aficionados and between another forum member there and myself I re-tabbed an amended version, which I think it more accurate. I have also amended my earlier non-sensical quick chord refs. Any further criticism welcomed.

Nice! I never did come up with a recording. I spent last night watching various Jet Harris videos on youtube, I noticed he changed the key on some of his hits so he could play them on regular guitar. I play them on bassVI like the records. Phil
