I want to build a limiter/compressor for bass guitar using some 12ax type tubes.
I'm looking for a schematic or even just some notes about the theory of operation. I'm guessing that it's basically just an amp stage with integrator cap that is used somehow to adjust the gain. Likely someone smarter than me figured this out 60 years ago.
If someone tells me there was a good limiter inside some well a known amp then I can look up the schematic.
Thanks.

Here is a relatively simple one.

Re: tube based limiter/compressor schematic?
Here's a couple old ways to do it simple, The easiest would be to put a stereo
jack wired as an insert, some where in the signal path so you could play
with a pedal or a rack unit for a while to see if will work for you.
