One thought is to have the input as far away from the power side as you can get it.
You see this in many layouts, including the OPT. I thought I fubar'd a layout by trying
to balance the weight, having the PT on one end and the OPT on the other,
and assumed that it was the inputs stages. They were right next to the OPT externally.
It turned out that was not the cause of the amps ill's, the long runs
of plate leads and the B+, even several inches away from the input was the culprit.
I cured it by putting aluminum tape over the long. exposed wire run.
Externally you can get very close , internally you'll have to plan ahead for
wire proximity. It can set up a inductive and capacitive coupling that can sound like
many other issues and drive you bonkers.
