6v6 jtm 45
what mods would i have to do to jtm 45 (mojo kit) to run 6v6s besides rebias?
Re: 6v6 jtm 45
6V6 tubes have an output impedance of 8K.
What tubes are currently in it? EL34's?
If so those are around 4K Z.
So you would have to either replace the output tranny or use a different speaker load than what it says.
I can't remember which way you go, but I think that 4 becomes 8 and 16 becomes 32.
Don't quote me on that, it could go the other way.
You may not have enough adjustment range on your bias so you may have to change the resistor to get the proper range.

Re: 6v6 jtm 45
My express combo amp uses 6v6 as the EL34 is to much in the 212 combo cabinet. I just adjust the bias. I am using the JTM45 PT tranny and fender style 6k primary impedance to 4 and 8 ohms.
No problems with my amp.

As long as you can get the bias in the ballpark and double the speaker impedance (as in, use a 16 ohm speaker on the 8 ohm tap etc.) it will work fine. Please note screen R's are recommended for 6V6s. I think a little revoicing is in order to un-flab the bottom end but that's just me. I did a 6V6 JTM50 and it sounded real good as long as all knobs were on 10.
