Re: where to find some capacitors.
Yes. but for some reason i can never find anything on that site. what brand would be good to use for these?

Try this link...
http://mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?N= ... or&FS=True
You can select the value and voltage rating you need.
Edited to add...
You should probably also specify Radial vs Axial.

Re: where to find some capacitors.
thanks. found 2 of them but the .1/600 and .22/300 i still need to find.
these are the two i found.

Re: where to find some capacitors.
Per the schematic, those are cathode bypass caps. Correct? I would think a 50V cap is sufficient. I don't understand why they have such high voltage rating specified.
It's OK to use non-polarized caps on the cathode. SoI suppose another option is non-polarized caps at the voltage rating they have specified on the schematic.

Re: where to find some capacitors.
Those are some pretty off-nominal values for electrolytics. Can't find them on Allied either.
Found an Aussie that built one: http://www.guitargear.net.au/discussion ... ic=11483.0
The schematic he references, and at least some of the guts shots, have the lower value caps as non-polarized, non-electrolytic:

i assumed it was one of these.Structo wrote:What is the 10000/10?

Re: where to find some capacitors.
Ah, ok, didn't see it on the schematic and didn't know if it was a typo.
Ah, after the bridge ok.

Re: where to find some capacitors.
which brings me to my next question. anyone have a part number for that? the first few times i looked i thought it was just 4 diodes.
Re: where to find some capacitors.
10000/10 is a 10,000 uf at 10 volts.
These are all oddball parts, probably a bunch of surplus stuff that the designer had. As mentioned, these appear to be all cathode bypass caps (except the 10000 uf one) right? You have a lot of room for voltage on those. Both the .1 and the .22 caps can be anything above 25 volts. They are easy enough to find, just look for some Mallory 150's. Don't get too hung up on that spec'd voltage, anything above 25 will do. Or go to radio shack, they would have them if you get in a pinch. They don't need to be polarized. The 10,000, look for one at 16 volts or 25 volts and it should be very common to find.
You could use 1n4001 diodes for the DC heater bridge. That will give you 1 amp. I would use 1n5408, that is 3 amps. Just buy 1N5408's and use them for all the diodes, HV and the heaters.

ah. i didnt know it didnt matter if they are polarized or not. i have a bunch of mallory 150s in these values

The leads on 5408's are humungous, but they look kool.Jana wrote:10000/10 is a 10,000 uf at 10 volts.

Re: where to find some capacitors.
Does the 1N5408 have less switching noise that a 1N4007?
Here's a guy that has the 1N5408, 100pcs for $7.95 + $2.50 ship.
