Anybody use these in your amps.
I know that KF utilized them in the Wrecks.

I also read somewhere that they wear out?

If they have been hit with spikes a few times their effectiveness can be called into question.
I had one factory in my '74 Orange OR120. But I dunno beyond that.

MOVs are useful in solid state circuits. Solid state is far more susceptible to damage from voltage spikes than tube circuits.

When MOVs get hit with huge spikes, they'll usually explode (just a little explosion), so you know it needs replacing. But when they experience smaller spikes over time, they can deteriorate and you'll never know it.
130V MOVs are available in different power handling ranges from around 1200 amps up to 6500 amps or more. The more robust ones stand up better in the long haul and are only a little bigger and a little more expensive (we're talking cents, not dollars). They also exhibit a little more capacitance, which MAY be useful in suppressing a little high-frequency line noise.
