Post by Tubetwang »

I am wondering why i cannot find a 5F6A layout on the net...

Anyone knows of one other than the old Fender Field Guide one?

there is only one----the original from the fender schematics/layouts that have been in the public domain for a long time now. gerald weber's books, aspen pittman's book, dave funk's book, etc. schematic heaven has most all the old fender stuff in pdf format with both the schematic and layout in one document. rh

Nik's rendition? Ceriatone's already got the 5F6A, using the original, proven layout. Why wait?

i don't see anything wrong the fender photo copy---it's the basis for so many amps out there now you couldn't count them all. i've personally built this circuit and others using this layout fashion over a hundred times in the past 10 or 12 yrs. no need to wait on anything---just buy yourself some board material and eyelets and get cracking. this type of circuit is not that sensitive to have an exacting layout---you can move things about a bit to your taste if need be and the results will be the same----a great sounding easy to build amp. build it using a tweed style chassis or a blackface style chassis or a marshall head style chassis---all good. all the info you need is right there in the schematic and layout. rh

i was just puzzled as to why there was not a nice layout done...

I'm working on the Bassman as we speak with Nik's chassis, Hammond new 290DX PT and a 35w old Garnet OT.

With Hoffman's and Fender's layout, i will be ok.

You can try Weber's layout... It's prettier than the old Fender copy. Note that there may be subtle differences between the Weber and the original Fender layout.

Ditto. I build one from scratch using both the Fender and Weber layout. The Weber layout is an excellent reference to have handy; legible, and big enough that I don't have to peer at it through my eyeglasses.

Some differences I have noticed - the feedback resistor is 56K (Weber) vs. 27K (Fender). Also, you'll want to pay close attention to input jack wiring. I had a problem using this layout blindly and it turned out the Switchcraft jacks I had are different then the ones that come with Ted's kit.

Otherwise, pretty much a stock 5F6-A.
