Any one recognize this tool ;- )
Used widely back in late 60's and somewhat in 70's. Then rendered not necessary and more or less obsolete.

I have two brand new ones, angled and straight. Made in Japan, very good quality. Not obsolete entirely.

Yep. Hated them. Blasted annoying things to use well.

Looks like a heatsink that is not designed well.

Not needed anymore unless you’re working with NOS Germanium or early silicon based semiconductors.
And even then the proper shaped soldering tip at 650 degrees gets the job done fast with no harm .
