How electricity really works videos

Post by Mark »

Okay, a disclaimer, I don’t really understand how electricity physically works but I thought these videos might be good for conversation.

If you can simply explain it all the better.

Thanks for your reply, but my question is more about the actual electron flow. The guy in the clip uses the analogy that the electron are moving to and fro at a given frequency and why is charge going in one direction when the electrons are moving in two directions. His question was, shouldn’t energy be removed in the opposite direction of electrons.

He also mentions the Poynting vector which measures how much electromagnetic energy is passing through an area per second.
Yours Sincerely

Not a bad simplification, but voltage should be pulling electron thru the resistance instead of pushing,
as voltage attracts electrons from ground through resistance.

There’s no polarity shown, but current flows from negative to positive and this derails some folks at first, especially with tube based electronics.
