7591 Output Stage

Post by W5FH »

Hello-
I wish to experiment with a pair of fixed bias push-pull 7591's (instead of 6L6GC) in my next build. Since most of my preamp circuits are for driving 6L6GC's I understand that the 7591's will only need about half of the driving voltage from phase inverter. How is the best way to deal with lowering my drive voltage? Should I use a voltage divider to lower the signal level at the phase inverter input? Or, would lower gain tubes such as 5751 or 12AY7 be preferable? I do wish to stay with the long tail phase inverter. Can't find very many existing circuits using 7591's in fixed bias to study. Any tips appreciated. I also understand my negative grid bias circuit will need to be adjusted for the lower bias voltage.
Thanks.
