Traynor YGM 3 Tremolo trouble

Post by Markusv »

Hello everyone.
It has been over a year since I have been active here.

I have gotten rusty with amps and hardly get to tinker around much any more, so I am hoping to get some short cut advice. My YGM3 Tremolo doesn't work. Actually I bought it not working. The tubes are good so that can't be it. The pots are fine and the wiring seems to be all in place.

Question: What typically makes these tremolos die? Do caps fail, or is there something more sinister?

Thanks as always
Markus

Welcome back! Yes, any electrolytic caps in the tremolo circuit are suspect.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

Thank you Xtian. Will check tomorrow. I suspect that would be a tremolo tube cathode cap?

Leaky phase shift caps are also a common failure mode.
