Hello All! I picked up this gem on ebay for a challenging resto. Does anyone have a schematic or a tube layout? I went to Dr. Tube. One of the few schematics that are not in the system. It came with 3 EL34s & a 6L6 with a solid state rectifier.

Howdy naybah! My, that looks like it's been a mouse condominium... gonna take some cleaning up. What few Elks I've seen copy Fender circuits. The larger amps use EL34 or 6CA7 instead of 6L6. When it comes to what needs to be replaced, it's all the usual suspects: electrolytic AND film caps, drifted resistors, corroded connectors, dodgy tubes & maybe some funky sockets. At least the face plate looks kool, with two (!) meters. Of course, that 6L6 likely doesn't belong, and the white output tube is full of air. One of the EL34's has "Made in England" likely a Mullard. Not that it's gonna help win any prizes. You'll be best off replacing the outputs with a new matched set once everything else has been squared away.

Looking at the few schematics at Dr Tube, I noticed that the Viking Bass 100 has a triode wired EL84 driving a quad of EL34 with an interstage transformer - parafeed no less. You can see the transformer on the underside of your chassis.

Well so much for the "Fender copy" theory. Junkin' had another Japanese amp he posted here a couple years ago. Made to look like a blackie Fender on the outside, it was a copy of a brownie Vibrolux on the inside. Turned out to be a pretty darn good amp!
